FAQs

  • It's for any leaders or aspiring leaders, and it can be anywhere from head of school to tech directors to coaches. Any positions that are currently official leadership positions or those educators who are working towards those leadership positions. It will be applicable for all of those case scenarios.

  • This November 2024 academy is the first in South East Asia, but not the first time the Academy has been run.

  • You don't have to have any Apple education experience. We will lead you through all the different activities. It's more about the bigger picture topics than it is about using a specific app or device.

  • You really don't need to prepare anything as far as content goes. But of course, you want to bring all of your devices, whatever you have. We definitely will be using technology during the session and it'll be helpful to have your tech tools with you. As a leader, you will want to bring ideas on how you want to see your school community grow in the use of technology and innovation. So bring those ideas because we'll have some time dedicated to sit down and strategize how you might not just build a strategic plan off that vision, but also how you might measure success. We'll spend some time helping you look at that long-term plan and also prioritizing steps towards those goals.

  • There will be not be a direct crossover, but we would recommend this if you are applying to be an ADS school, and if that's an idea or a goal that you have, that could be something that you could strategically plan through the sessions. So direct crossover, probably not, but you will gather lots of ideas and maybe even have the time to develop a plan towards applying for ADS.

  • That's a great combo. That will work just great for the Apple Leadership Academy.

  • This is a relatively new certification from Apple that is dedicated to participants who complete this three-day experience. It is a different designation and training and certification than the professional learning specialists. So we're very excited to be able to badge the first Apple Leadership Academy (ALA) in Asia. Apple Professional Learning Specialist (APLS) is significantly different in that the APLSs are being trained to deliver professional development to others, whereas with the ALA, it is to develop your leadership abilities and have some concrete ideas for your strategic plan when you get back to your school.

  • This isn't planned, but we would love to hear if there is interest in that. We do value the in-person experience, but we know there are limitations to travel.

  • Definitely. Although there's a rich experience sharing with people who are not at your school, being able to go back and forth between your colleagues and people who are at different schools will make the experience even richer. A group of two or four would be great. We think it would help as you come back to school and you develop those plans together where you can make a bigger impact on your campus.

  • Absolutely not. It's for schools from anywhere. We are targeting Asia, but if we have some interest from other areas, we're happy to help with those as well. It is a rich experience when you can have educators from around the region in one room. So we're happy to have anyone from Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and elsewhere. If you can get here, we're happy to have you. So it's not a geographically based event. I think you'll get a lot out of it regardless of where you're coming from. We don't think there are any Apple Leadership Academy anywhere in Europe or the Middle East at this point. So this is a unique opportunity if you're even somewhat close to Southeast Asia.

  • We will be delivering the content in English, but if you feel more comfortable speaking another language, you can do all of your planning in whatever language works best for you. There are some good translation apps and that should help make the workshops go fairly smoothly

  • 100%. Besides your badge, there will be a strategic plan that you'll be able to take back. There will be other resources that we will share during the Academy including work templates for the planning.

  • If you are taking the airport transfer (KLIA Ekspres & KLIA Transit Schedules), it will only take around 28 minutes for you to arrive from the airport to KL Sentral. Our event is taking place at the Apple Office in Kuala Lumpur, which is just 700m away from KL Sentral.
